A man found dead in a park is being fondly remembered by friends and loved ones as police continue the search for his killer.

Trevor Doyle, 29, was found dead on the footpath at Reserve Park in Slacks Creek, south of Brisbane, on Wednesday morning by a local resident.

A crime scene was declared after Queensland Police found visible injuries on Doyle, sparking a homicide investigation.

Police believe Doyle, who is a local to Slacks Creek, went to the park on Tuesday night between 7pm and Wednesday morning.

“We can’t say how long he was in the park prior to him being located,” Detective Inspector Chris Knight told reporters.

“The circumstances surrounding the young man’s death are tragic of course and there are visible injuries observed by our forensic officers that certainly allow us to treat this as a homicide and an unexplained suspicious death.”

Officers also do not know how long Doyle had been deceased in the park, with a post-mortem to be performed on Thursday.

The park remained filled on Thursday with police, forensic officers and SES crews who are combing the grounds for clues as to who is responsible for Doyle’s death.

Police have not found a weapon in the “immediate” area of the park, Det Knight said.

Some other items were also seized in the park, with police yet to determine whether any of them are related to the incident.

It is also unclear whether it was a random attack but Det Knight suspects Doyle met somebody at the park and “something has occurred”.

“It could have been a meeting for anything,” Det Knight said when asked whether it could have been drug-related.

“At the moment, we have a lot of questions surrounding those circumstances.”

Doyle’s lifestyle patterns and his movements in the days leading up to his death are part of the police investigation.

Police have spoken with his family over the tragic incident, Det Knight said.

His loved ones described by family as beautiful, funny, and cheeky.

Friends have taken to social media to pay tribute to Doyle, fondly remembered for being a good friend at the Indigenous Murri School in Brisbane and a keen dancer.

“We all had our own shine at that school but he was always dancing,” one friend said.

Police are asking members of the public to come forward if they have any information, particularly anyone who was in the vicinity of the park between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Any dash cam or CCTV footage within that time frame has also been requested by police.
