Car seller thrown from balcony requires spinal surgery after Facebook Marketplace ambush in Queensland

The victim was confronted at his home by three people demanding a refund.

A Facebook Marketplace seller has been thrown from his verandah and left needing spinal surgery.

The 52-year-old man sold his 2013 Nissan Pulsar on August 6, and a few days later was confronted by three people at his Stapylton home.

They were demanding a refund, Queensland Police said.

The victim was allegedly thrown off the balcony, and beaten with a broken balustrade.

He suffered serious spinal injuries that require surgery, Queensland Police said.

The group then fled in a Volkswagen van.

A 40-year-old Lockrose man was arrested following police investigation.

He has been charged with with one count of grievous bodily harm, and one count of assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company.

He is set to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 17.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
