While they are considered rare, you can still get an NBN plan for less than $50 per month.

The cheapest NBN plan: Southern Phone

The above NBN Basic plan from Southern Phone is the cheapest in the WhistleOut database, priced at just $45 per month. Its current promo deal lasts a whole 12 months, which is very hard to find these days. Beyond this promo period, the price will increase to $59 per month. Both new and transferring customers will save $14 per month for their first year with Southern Phone. This offer ends September 14 2025.

Cheap NBN plans: Mate

At the time of writing, Mate is currently running not one, but three deals to save customers precious dollars. Firstly, customers who use the promo code ‘MATE30’ will save $30 per month on its Crikey NBN 25/10 plan. This will set customers back just $46 per month for the first six months. The price then increases to $70 per month. This offer ends September 30 2025.

Secondly, if you’re a new customer that finds Mate isn’t for you during your first month, it will honour a full refund of your plan fee so you can move on elsewhere.

And thirdly, customers who bundle their mobile and internet plans with Mate will save $10 per month on their internet bill. This offer also ends September 30 2025.

Cheap NBN plans: Dodo

You’ll want to connect yourself with Dodo when you see just how affordable its NBN 25 plan is. Thanks to its current discount offer, new Dodo customers can lock in a $25 per month saving on its NBN 25 Unlimited. This drops the price to just $46.99 per month with the price reverting to $71.99 per month thereafter. However, this deal is only available to certain areas and ends September 30 2025.

As an added bonus, Dodo customers in select areas can also save an extra $10 per month when they bundle their NBN with electricity and gas with the one provider at the same address. If you live in QLD, however, the discount is $5 off per month instead of $10.

Cheap NBN plans: Kogan Internet

Kogan Internet customers on its NBN Bronze Unlimited plan will pay just $48.90 per month for the first six months instead of $70.90 per month. This offer ends September 14 2025.

Other perks Kogan Internet customers receive include the freedom to change plans once per bill cycle without extra charge, earning 1 Qantas Point per $2 spent with Kogan Internet (a Qantas Frequent Flyer account must be linked to be eligible) and the Kogan Internet Price Pledge. This means if a better price is found on the same NBN plan from an approved major provider, Kogan will give the customer back double the difference.

Cheap NBN plans: Tangerine

If you’re thinking of making the switch to Tangerine for the first time, you have a decent amount of time to consider it. Until December 31 2025, its Value NBN plan will be priced at $49.90 per month for the first six months. Once this promo period ends, it reverts back to $69.90 per month.

To sweeten the deal, Tangerine customers also enjoy a $50 referral bonus when someone they know signs up, no extra plan charges or set-up fees plus seven days of technical support, including on weekends.
