SERVES UP TO 4 PEOPLE TO SHARE
Prep time: 5 minutes, plus resting time
Cook time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
1kg Coles Grillfather T-bone steak
1 x 750g bag Coles frozen Beer Batter potato chips
1 tablespoon olive oil
Sea salt and pepper to taste
3 cloves garlic, skin on, bruised
6 sprigs thyme
50g butter
Coles Dijon and Seeded mustard to serve
1 x Coles Kitchen Caesar salad pack
Method
Step 1. Remove the steak from the fridge and take it out of the packaging. Pat dry with paper towel then place the steak onto a plate and leave for 45 minutes to come up to an ambient temperature-this will ensure even cooking through the steak.
Step 2. Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees C. Spread the potato chips onto a lined tray and roast in the oven for 25 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
Step 3. While the chips are cooking, rub the steak with oil and season with sea salt. Heat a heavy based frying pan then place the steak into the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it has a nice golden crust on the ouside. Place the garlic cloves, thyme and butter into the pan and melt until foaming. Tilt the pan then spoon the foaming butter over the steak continually for 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant. Remove the steak from the pan and allow to rest in a warm area for 10 minutes.
Step 4. While the steak is resting, prepare the Caesar salad according to packet instructions and place into a serving bowl. Slice down either side of the bone in the steak then cut into strips. Arrange the steak onto a serving plate then spoon over the butter and thyme mixture and add on the a dollop of both mustards. Serve with the crispy chips on the side.
