That’s all, folks

What a night for Brisbane.

They’re back on the big stage, and they get the chance to avenge their defeat to Geelong in the qualifying final.

We’ll have every angle covered from now right through to next Saturday - and don’t forget it’s live, free and exclusive on Channel 7 and 7plus Sport.

Mixed messages

Jarrod Berry is backing himself, but Chris Fagan isn’t so sure.

The latest on Lachie Neale

Happy coach

Chris Fagan’s first impression of the win?

“Just stunned by the effort of what quite a young team put in tonight,” he tells Channel 7.

He tapped into their history with Collingwood at half-time.

“We looked like we might’ve been out on our feet at half-time and we found something in the second half,” Fagan says.

“I’ll be honest I reminded them of the 2023 grand final and said we’ll never ever get redemption from that game until we beat them in the final.

“I don’t know whether that helped, but... (laughs).”

The Lions are on their way home soon to start preparing for the grand final.

Will Fagan sleep when his head hits the pillow?

“Nah,” he says.

“Three or four hours and then I’ll wake up and I’ll be thinking about the game, thinking about next week. But anyway what an effort.”

First timers

Levi Ashcroft watched on from the sidelines last year before being drafted to play alongside his brother Will.

A little bit superstitious, he refused to touch the cup in the rooms.

Now he gets the chance to win it himself.

“That’s the plan. Still got one to go,” Levi tells Channel 7.

“Fortunate enough to be around the boys last year to see us win it but hopefully we can get it done and I can be part of it this year.”

Oscar McInerney also missed out last year after being injured in the prelim.

He received Chris Fagan’s premiership medal and could now get his own.

But he’s not expecting anything just yet.

“We’ll get through selection on Tuesday first,” McInerney says.

“I’m no different to anyone else, (winning a flag is) what everyone sets out to do.”

McInerney said he will wrap his arms around Berry.

“He’s a super human, we’ll give him every minute,” he says.

Lions reach third straight grand final!

FT - Collingwood 11.5 (71) Brisbane 15.10 (100)

It’s all over for the ageing Pies but the surging Brisbane will now get the chance to go back-to-back when they meet Geelong next Saturday at the MCG.

It’s heartache for Jarrod Berry with his shoulder injury and an uncertain outlook, and Lachie Neale could yet miss the decider with his calf rehab.

Let’s not forget Eric Hipwood, Noah Answerth, Kiddy Coleman, Tom Doedee, Lincoln McCarthy and Jack Payne are all sidelined too.

But what a moment with a couple of minutes to go.

Dayne Zorko, the former skipper, headed to the bench and immediately hugged Chris Fagan - both full of smiles.

Just a couple of hours ago Fagan had yanked Zorko for having a hand in Collingwood’s first four goals of the game!

“They have a great relationship, those two,” Kane Cornes says.

Hamish McLachlan remembers last year’s grand final when Fagan brought Zorko up onto the dais alongside current captain Harris Andrews.

‘You’ve helped me build this club’ was the message.

From missing the finals in Fagan’s first two years to seven straight finals series, including three straight grand finals. Incredible.

Consolation goal

Jamie Elliott nabs his fourth goal.

Lions let loose

Q4 3:14 - Collingwood 10.4 (64) Brisbane 15.10 (100)

They know they’re home now!

Zorko goals to redeem his horror first quarter, and the Lions are up and about - even Chris Fagan.

Just showing off now

Q4 5:29 - Collingwood 10.4 (64) Brisbane 14.10 (94)

Kai Lohmann escorts the ball over the goal line and this margin is getting big.

The No.1 loved it - and he celebrated with some push-ups in front of the Pies’ cheer squad.

That might be curtains for Collingwood

Q4 6:20 - Collingwood 10.4 (64) Brisbane 13.10 (88)

Ty Gallop. In his fifth game. A third final. And a third goal on the night!

“He has emerged in front of our eyes,” Kane Cornes says.

Facing the biggest margin of the night, the Pies will need a historic comeback to win from here.
