A 35-year-old woman is dead and two young children are in hospital following a single-vehicle accident in Queensland’s Somerset region on Monday.

Emergency services were called to Sandy Creek Rd, Sandy Creek — about an hour’s drive west of Caloundra — about 4.50pm following reports a white Toyota Landcruiser had crashed into a tree.

The driver, a 35-year-old Sandy Creek woman, died at the scene. A two-year-old girl suffered a minor injury while a six-year-old girl sustained a serious but non-life-threatening injury. Both were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage of the crash to contact Queensland Police.
