A man in his 50s who was present at the time was interviewed by police and later released.
Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield said on Monday the pair were known to each other but were not in a de facto relationship.
“They don’t live together at that address. He was frequenting the address to help her clean up,” Mansfield said.
“We’re still trying to establish the exact relationship that they have to each other.”
A knife was found at the scene and has been secured by police.

Mansfield said Gauld’s death is being treated as suspicious.
A crime scene has been established at the home, which police confirmed was owned by Gauld.
A post-mortem is scheduled for Tuesday morning, as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Neighbours told 7NEWS they heard screaming in the moments leading up to Gauld’s death.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen or heard anything about 7pm on Sunday — or in the hours prior — including any unusual pedestrian or vehicle activity near the address.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact police.
