Hey Hey It’s Saturday legend Wilbur Wilde has revealed he underwent surgery for the same aggressive cancer that affected co-star John Blackman and music icon John Farnham.

The 69-year-old saxophone player had a third of his tongue and the floor of his mouth removed after being diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma.

The rare cancer was fortunately discovered early, giving Wilde the best chance of recovery.

In a remarkable show of resilience, the beloved entertainer was able to perform just three weeks after the major operation, using music as a form of rehabilitation.
