A baby has died after a ute smashed into a car parked on the side of a major motorway on the Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to the M1 northbound at Gaven about 2.50am on Sunday morning.
Police said their initial investigations indicated a silver Jeep Cherokee was parked on the side of the motorway, near the Smith St on ramp, when it was hit by a grey Toyota Hilux.

A baby boy, who was in the Jeep, was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital, but could not be saved and was declared dead a short time later.
The driver of the Jeep, a 24-year-old Ormeau Hills woman, was also taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
Police said the driver of the Toyota, a 51-year-old Loganlea man, sustained minor injuries.
As of 7.30am, the M1 is reduced to one lane at the Smith St on Ramp, northbound.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect delays.
Investigations are ongoing.
