A 20-year-old was taken to hospital.

An elderly woman has died in a two-vehicle crash in South Australia.

The 94-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a sedan when it crashed with a utility vehicle at the intersection of Carpenter Rocks Rd and Dixons Rd at Burrungule — about 20 minutes west of Mount Gambier in the state’s South East region — about 2pm on Wednesday.

The local woman died at the site of the crash.

The 20-year-old woman driving the ute suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment.

Road closures are in place on Carpenter Rock Rd and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

The woman’s death is the 50th life lost on South Australian roads this year.
