Rute Cardoso, the wife of Diogo Jota, has paid tribute to her late husband, marking a month since the couple got married.
Liverpool star Jota died aged 28 in a car crash in Spain on July 3 along with his 25-year-old brother Andre Silva, who was also a professional footballer in their native Portugal.
In a post on Instagram, Cardoso shared photographs from their wedding day on June 22 as the reality of the situation hit home with five heartbreaking words.

“One month since our ‘til death do us part’,” she said Tuesday, adding she was “forever” his.
Jota married his long-term partner Cardoso less than two weeks before the crash.
The couple had three children together.
The football world has rallied behind the family since Jota’s death.
His funeral was attended by many current players, including Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Portugal star Ruben Neves.
Cardoso was pictured embracing other mourners as she arrived at the church ahead of the ceremony on July 5.
Liverpool have since retired Jota’s No.20 shirt following talks with Cardoso and Jota’s family.
“As a club, we were all acutely aware of the sentiment of our supporters – and we felt exactly the same way,” club boss Michael Edwards said.
“It was vitally important to us to involve Diogo’s wife Rute and his family in the decision and to ensure they were the first to know of our intention.
“I believe this is the first time in Liverpool Football Club’s history that such an honour has been bestowed upon an individual. Therefore, we can say this is a unique tribute to a uniquely wonderful person.
“By retiring this squad number, we are making it eternal — and therefore never to be forgotten.
“Diogo joined us in 2020, he won us number 20, and he wore — with honour, distinction and affection — the number 20.
“As far as Liverpool Football Club is concerned, he will be forever our number 20.”

A mural of the star has also been painted on a wall in the city.
Jota was a vital part of Liverpool’s recent success, lifting the Premier League trophy at the end of last season.
He was also part of the Portugal national team which won the Nations League in June this year, having also won the competition in 2019.
