Australian motocross champion Jett Lawrence has rubbed shoulders with global superstars after scoring a surprise invite to the Met Gala.
The 21-year-old dominates the Supercross circuit in the US, where he is based, and raced in Australia for the first time in five years last November. But he remains relatively little-known outside the sport.
He is, however, linked with major talent agency Wasserman, which represents some of the biggest names in sport and entertainment, and he was among the elite in New York on Monday (Tuesday AEST).

“It’s honestly an honour,” Lawrence said.
“It shows that moto’s expanding into new spaces, and I get to help lead that. I’m proud to rep the sport and show the world we’ve got style too.”
Dressed by David August and Santo Studios, he described his embroidered suit as “really elegant” with a “little bit of an ‘80s touch” thanks to a high-collared shirt and flared pants.
“Moto’s always been about style and expression for me, so getting into fashion and hitting the Met Gala feels like a natural move,” Lawrence said.
“It’s just another way to show personality and bring that same confidence from the track to a different kind of stage.”

The Met Gala was led by the likes of Nicole Kidman, Madonna and Diana Ross, while it also included a Rihanna pregnancy announcement.
It was the first Met Gala to focus exclusively on Black designers with this year’s theme is based on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
Kidman showed off a new hairdo, debuting a two-tone short haircut, while Madonna showed up in a monochrome taupe tuxedo clutching a cigar. It was Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, the designer who took over when Ford stepped aside.
Emma Chamberlain, Zendaya and Teyana Taylor arrived in pinstripes and other traditional men’s detailing.
Doja Cat, always fearless when it comes to fashion, donned a Marc Jacobs bodysuit look with orange and black wildcat detailing and broad-shouldered pinstripes.
Taylor went for a stunning Zoot suit look with a red, feather-adorned top hat and a huge matching cape dripping with flowers and bling. The Zoot was popularised in Harlem in the 1940s.

And then there were the bombshells.
Megan Thee Stallion in Michael Kors and Dua Lipa in black Chanel included. Megan’s look had a high side slit and floral lace embellishment. Lipa was giving elevated flapper in feathers and an ‘S’ curl style for her hair.
And Miley Cyrus oozed womanhood in a custom cropped black crocodile jacket and long black taffeta skirt by Alaïa.
Diana Ross, meanwhile, swallowed the carpet in a huge white train, escorted by her son Evan Ross.
Lizzo debuted blonde hair to go with her pink and black Christian Siriano gown with a plunge at the front. It was so tight at the legs she struggled to walk.
As for the men, co-host A$AP Rocky told The Associated Press that Anna Wintour suggested he wear a Black designer.
“So I wore myself,” the musician said of his custom suit designed by his creative agency, AWGE, complete with a black parka and diamond-crested umbrella.
“Everything is designed by yours truly.”
Rocky, Rihanna’s partner and dad to their two kids, confirmed to reporters that baby number three is on the way.
