The ever-changing shape of this year’s Makybe Diva Stakes took another twist on Monday when Treasurethe Moment was ruled out of the Group 1 contest, which will be run at Flemington this Saturday.
The star four-year-old made a trip to hospital after suffering what trainer Matt Laurie described as a ‘mild case of colic’, but one serious enough to alter her spring program.
“It has been decided that Treasurethe Moment will not compete in the Makybe Diva Stakes this weekend and the stewards have been duly informed,” Laurie said.

“Unfortunately, this morning ‘Treasure’ had a very mild case of colic. This was identified very quickly and out of precaution she was taken to hospital for observation.
“I can report she is in the best of care, she looks bright and her prognosis is very good.
“We will look at other race alternatives in due course, always keeping her best interest as a priority.”
Treasurethe Moment, last season’s Australian Champion 3YO Filly, made it nine wins on end with a brilliant win over a star-studded field in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30.
The daughter of Alabama Express was as odds-on favourite with some bookmakers for the Makybe Diva Stakes after it was last week revealed that her owner Yulong was reluctant for her and its other star mare Via Sistina to clash before the Cox Plate.
Via Sistina’s Chris Waller-trained stablemate Aeliana arrived in Melbourne over the weekend and will run in the Makybe Diva Stakes, which will also include Mr Brightside, who has won the past two editions of the 1600m event, Antino and Tom Kitten.
