Aussie basketball superstar Josh Giddey signs Chicago Bulls deal reportedly worth $152 million

The 22-year-old Melburnian is suddenly rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the sport.
Josh Giddey will be a Bull for another four NBA seasons after penning a new deal in Chicago.

Chicago have signed Australian guard Josh Giddey to a new multi-year contract.

The Bulls did not disclose financial terms, but reports on Tuesday said it was for $US100 million ($A152 million) over four years.

Chicago acquired the 6-foot-8, 214-pound Giddey in a trade from Oklahoma City in June 2024.

He became one of three NBA players to have at least 1002 points, 566 rebounds and 503 assists along with LeBron James and Nikola Jokic.

The 22-year-old Melburnian averaged 14.6 points and a career-high 8.1 rebounds, leading the Bulls with 7.2 assists, starting 69 of 70 games.

Giddey also joined Michael Jordan as the only Chicago players to average at least 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in a single season.

The sixth pick overall in the 2021 draft, the Boomers star had 30 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles. He also made a career-high 105 three-pointers to help the Bulls set a franchise record with 1271 made triples in a single season.

Chicago finished ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 39-43 record and were eliminated at home by the Miami Heat in the Play-In tournament, despite Giddey’s team-high 25 points.

He earned Rising Stars selections in each of his first two NBA seasons, as well as 2021-22 All-Rookie Second Team honours during his rookie campaign. He was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month four times.
