Channel 7 commentator Kane Cornes says Richmond star Noah Balta “genuinely looks like he has forgotten how to play football” in the wake of his poor performance against Geelong on Saturday.
Balta’s nightmare season continued on the weekend with another disappointing display.

The talented big man was swung forward in the absence of Tom Lynch, but had little impact on a tough day for the Tigers.
He finished with just seven disposals and one behind, which was a horribly mis-timed set shot.
The 25-year-old signed a blockbuster seven-year contract extension through to the end of 2032 last October, but has failed to deliver on his big deal.

Balta missed the first four matches through a club-imposed suspension after pleading guilty to assault during the off-season.
As part of his sentence, he was also given a 10pm curfew, which ruled him ineligible for night matches.
But, aside from his first game of the season against Gold Coast, Balta has struggled to have an impact.
Cornes was scathing in his assessment of the key position player and in particular the club bosses, who signed off on his monster contract.
“Who signs these deals? Like, who’s responsible for signing these deals? And (I know) it’s a bugbear of mine, but I’m watching this guy play. He genuinely looks like he’s forgotten how to play football,” Cornes said on Kane’s Call.
“Like, I know he’s had the off-field staff. I know there’s been a lack of continuity with his footy because of the curfew and he’s missed some games, but now they’re chucking him forward.
“He genuinely looks like he’s playing another sport. And someone has signed him until the end of 2032.
“Now, we’re in 2025 and this is the performance you’re getting now. What’s it going to look like in 2032?
“Like, he can’t stand up. He’s fumbly. He’s falling over. They don’t know where to play him because he’s been so poor down back. Tom Lynch is out. They’ve gone, we’ll put him forward. And then you get this sort of stuff.”
Balta’s shocking performance was compounded by an undisciplined bump on Tom Stewart that was lucky not to result in a suspension.
He came charging in and collected Stewart high while the Cat had his head over the ball.
Balta was fined a whopping $10,000 ($6250 with an early plea) for forceful front-on contact. The sanction was higher than normal given it was his third offence.
“The undisciplined ... he’s so lucky that Tom Stewart wasn’t injured there. But if that had gone slightly more wrong, it could have been a serious injury for Tom Stewart,” Cornes continued.
“I’d like some accountability at Richmond. Like, who’s going to put your hand up and say, we signed this guy to 2032. It has been nothing but a complete disaster off the field, but more so on it, or equally on it, with his performance and lack of impact.
“And he’s supposed to be one of our best, highest paid, longest contracted senior players.
“It’s been bizarre. And I just think the people that sign these deals get away scot-free and there’s never any accountability when they go really badly wrong like this one.”
Balta will miss the next two matches against Essendon and West Coast because of his curfew, which ends on July 22.
