During a verbal argument in Sorrento in October 2023, Braun slapped the woman with an open hand, the court was told.
Braun’s defence lawyer described the incident as a “one-off” and out of character, saying his client is remorseful and accepted full responsibility.
The Magistrate accepted his early guilty plea and prior good character, fining him $1200.
Of that, $800 will be paid directly to his ex-partner, with whom he shares a child.
Braun was also granted a spent conviction over the assault charge.
The former AFL player pulled on West Coast’s colours 228 times between 1997 and 2008, and was a member of the club’s 2006 premiership win.
