He immediately went down as play continued around him before he was helped off the field by trainers.

While the 25-year-old was able to walk off, he looked in significant pain as he cradled his right arm.

Channel 7 boundary commentator Andrew McCormack revealed a short time later that Spargo was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

“Unable to get dislocated right shoulder back in place. Incredibly painful,” he tweeted.

“Host of AFL teammates heading into rooms to check on him.”

Spargo played nine senior games this year before suffering a shoulder injury in the win over Sydney in Round 11.

He returned for one more senior appearance against St Kilda in Round 20.

It continues a frustrating run for the classy forward, who only managed one game last year due to a ruptured Achilles.

Spargo was a mainstay in the Demons’ side in 2021, playing all 25 games as they stormed to the premiership.

But he is out of contract at the end of this season and is weighing up his future.

AFL Media reports Spargo has been offered a new deal at the Demons, but North Melbourne are among the clubs interested in his services.

Spargo, who has played 108 senior games, qualifies as an unrestricted free agent and will be free to join the club of his choice should he leave Melbourne.
