Port Adelaide star Jason Horne-Francis insists his recent meeting with in-demand St Kilda gun Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera was nothing more than a friendly catch-up — but there is a photo of it that may give Saints coach Ross Lyon a fright.

Caroline Wilson told The Agenda Setters on Monday night that Horne-Francis and Power teammate Jase Burgoyne had been putting in ground work to lure Wanganeen-Milera home to South Australia at the end of this year.

“Jase Burgoyne and Jason Horne-Francis have been doing a lot of (recruiting) work,” she said.

The trio have been close friends since playing together in pathways squads as juniors before being drafted in 2021.

With the weekend off in Round 13 as St Kilda has their bye, Wanganeen-Milera is back in his home state visiting family — and some friends, Horne-Francis confirmed.

Horne-Francis said he became aware of Wilson’s report within minutes of it going to air.

“Jase Burgoyne sent me this within four minutes of it being posted and we started cracking up laughing,” he told Triple M.

“We’re three best mates and we always catch up all the time, whenever ‘Nas’ is back in (Adelaide). He’s back in town already.

“He lives in Melbourne, so we never get to really catch up, so every time he’s back here, we catch up as many times as we can.”

Horne-Francis said their most recent meeting was hardly a recruiting session, given it wasn’t even planned.

“They messaged at five o’clock asking me what I was doing for dinner and I said I’ve already got it ready, and then I said yous can come over,” he said.

“So Jase and Nas popped over for dinner, and then we thought we’d get some dessert, go to Yochi, on The Parade.

“One of the Yochi workers came up to us and said, ‘Can we get a photo of you for the Yochi Instagram?’ of me, Jase Burgoyne and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera after Caro had just said we’re doing recruiting.”

The three boys obliged to take the photo, despite knowing full well how newsworthy it would be.

Triple M host and Adelaide Crows champion Mark Ricciuto said that Lyon’s heart would skip a beat if he saw the image.

“He (the Yochi worker) does not know how valuable that photo is — he’s about to send Yochi through the bloody roof,” he said.

“Ross Lyon is going to have a heart attack when he sees that: ‘What’s Nasiah doing? He’s back in Adelaide, he said he was just going to see his parents and he’s out with the bloody Port players!’”

Wanganeen-Milera is out of contract at the end of the year and is yet to commit to the Saints, with offers from both Adelaide clubs on the table.

Reports have suggested the Saints rebounder is being offered as much as $1.2 million from the Crows — but that St Kilda are willing to match it.
