Harley Reid signs blockbuster two-year contract extension with West Coast

The emerging superstar has ended speculation surrounding his future.

West Coast emerging superstar Harley Reid has signed a new contract with the club.

Reid, who is still on his initial three-year draft contract, has inked a multimillion dollar two-year extension to remain at the Eagles.

It’s been previously reported the contract for the 20-year-old will be around $24 million over 11 years — composing of an initial two-year deal with a trigger for the remaining nine.

But this new deal is just a straight two-year extension through to the end of 2028.

7NEWS Perth reporter Ryan Daniels said Reid will earn around $2m per season.

“I’m incredibly excited to sign on with this great club,” Reid said.

“Since the day I arrived in Perth the West Coast Eagles members and fans have been so supportive of me and our team, and the future with our young squad is super exciting.

“Playing at Optus Stadium in front of our fans is an unbelievable experience and I love representing the club.

“The support from our coaches and my teammates has been amazing over the last two years, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my game and helping the team climb back up the ladder.

“I can’t wait for the 2026 season and beyond to see what we can achieve together.”

Reid, the No.1 draft pick in 2023, has long been linked with a move back to Victoria.

And speculation around his future hit overdrive two weeks ago with reports St Kilda put in a long-term offer worth $25 million.

But he has rejected the lure of return to his home state to re-sign with the Eagles in a massive coup for the club.

Reid has played 39 games in two years for the club and has shown his enormous potential with a string of eye-catching performances.

The explosive midfielder’s season ended earlier after suffering an injury in the loss to Fremantle in Round 20.
