“Injury mayhem at Essendon training this morning,” reported 7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary.
“Fears over a calf injury to Darcy Parish.
“Mason Redman (hamstring) and Kyle Langford (quad) both reported discomfort following the session.
“All will be assessed further in coming days.”
Later on Saturday the club issued a statement.
“Langford and Redman have had a normal training week building up to a return to play but suffered setback with both reporting discomfort in quad (Langford) and hammy (Redman),” Essendon said.
“Parish felt a calf tightness towards end of training and has gone for precautionary scans.
“Will know more in the coming days on all players.”
Cleary later reported that Langford’s season could be in doubt with his latest setback.
Parish has endured a wretched run with injuries in recent seasons, hampered by ongoing back and calf issues.
He has only managed three games this year and had only just made his way back into the team.
The latest issues are a big headache for coach Brad Scott who is already dealing with a significant injury list and has been hoping to get some cattle back on the park.
Other injured stars include Sam Draper (season), Harrison Jones (ankle), Ben McKay (foot), Nick Bryan (season), Zach Reid (hamstring) and Jordan Ridley (hamstring).
There also fears for the career of utility Nik Cox (concussion) who is waiting on the findings of the AFL’s concussion panel to see if he can continue playing.
