AFL great Wayne Carey rages after alleged toilet tryst video goes viral

‘If they wanted to ruin my life and her life and ruin my kids’ lives, why didn’t they just do that.’

AFL great Wayne Carey is fuming after he was filmed walking out of a bathroom at a fancy wine bar in Melbourne in what has been made out to be some sort of seedy toilet tryst.

In the viral video, a woman walks out of the bathroom and then Carey appears about 20 seconds later, on his phone.

In the video’s audio, a woman can be heard saying “she looks embarrassed” and someone else says “what’s he doing in there?”.

The video was taken at Toorak Cellars in the affluent inner-suburb of Armadale and it has incensed Carey and the woman who was also filmed.

Carey — who is no stranger to controversy — said the people who took the video are “sl**-shaming” and he wants them to be held to account.

“Annoyed is the wrong word,” Carey said.

“I’ve gone through 10 different emotions in the last three days. One has been disbelief, that’s not an emotion, but I’ve gone through disbelief, sadness, I’ve gone through anger. I’ve had empathy, I’ve had all sorts of things go through this body and this mind.

“This woman has been thrown into this just because I could kick a footy.

“And you’ve got two vile, disturbing, probably pissed women who want to do this to another woman.

“That’s all they were doing, they were slut-shaming another woman.

“If two men had done that they would be raked over hot coals, it would be the biggest story going around if that had occurred.

“But because it’s two women doing it to another woman … you don’t know what’s going on. This other woman has had all sorts of stuff going in her life I’ve since found out.”

The woman who was filmed was also furious.

“Shame on you women, we are better than that,” she said on social media.

“It did not happen, but that’s not the point. It’s time this narrative changed.”

Carey said he knew who the people behind the video were and revealed he had taken the matter to the police.

“You talk about vile and disgusting, what they have done and who they have affected by a few sh*** and giggles drinking their chardonnay sitting up there doing whatever,’’ Carey said.

“Once again I’m not going to name them because that would be as pathetic as what they are. I’ll let the law take care of it.”

Carey is one of the greatest footballers to have ever played AFL, but the North Melbourne premiership captain has had a life dotted with scandals.

In 2002 Carey’s bombshell affair with Kelli Stevens (the wife of former teammate Anthony Stevens) was exposed when they were at a party and spotted exiting a toilet together.

It is unclear if this video was an attempt to evoke that bitter memory, which destroyed relationships and changed Carey’s life forever.

“It’s gone through my mind a million times, ‘what did they want to achieve?’,” Carey said.

“What middle aged women would want to sit and film someone and for what purpose? But then make up a story about what occurred.

“If they really wanted to ruin someone’s life, they could have contacted Jess (his partner Jessica Paulke) personally and said, ‘Guess what, I’ve just seen your partner come out of a toilet and a female came out 30 seconds in between so therefore they must have been doing something in that toilet together’.

“If that’s what they wanted to do, if they wanted to ruin my life and her life and ruin my kids’ lives, why didn’t they just do that.

“I know who they are, the police know who they are, my lawyers know who they are. I have contacted these people just like the footballers have contacted these people because they’ve been abused online.”
