Woman, 64, allegedly uses vacuum to kill friend, 66, while on holiday in Spain.

A woman has been accused of killing her friend with a vacuum while the pair were on holiday in Spain.

The unnamed British woman, 64, was staying in a holiday apartment in Benidorm, Alicante with her 66-year-old friend.

At midnight on Wednesday, a third woman, believed to be a friend of the other women, called emergency services after she found the 66-year-old dead in the apartment.

When police arrived, they found the woman’s body with a vacuum cable around her neck, The Sun reported.

The 64-year-old was arrested and allegedly confessed to her friend’s murder after being taken away from the scene by police.

The pair allegedly had a heated verbal argument before things turned violent.

The vacuum has been taken as evidence to be examined by forensic experts for DNA, and the woman who called authorities gave a witness statement while at the scene.

The preliminary post-mortem confirmed the 66-year-old’s cause of death was strangulation.

A Spanish national police spokesperson said the “woman (had) been arrested on suspicion of killing another 66-year-old woman, both from the UK”.

“The investigation is ongoing and at the moment we can’t give out any more information.”

None of the parties involved in the incident have been identified, and police have not confirmed if any of the women are related. No details about the potential fight before the 66-year-old’s death have been made available.

A local court has authority over the continuing investigation while the full police report is produced.

They had been staying in Rincon de Loix, an area of Benidorm known as “Little England” which is a popular tourist spot in the summer, with easy coastal access.

This comes after a young man tragically drowned off a Benidorm beach last month

Robbie Conington, 30, went for an evening swim with two of his friends late at night on August 30 when he went missing.

Witnesses said they had watched as he was pulled further out into the ocean as waves began to surge.

The local coastguard searched for him, but devastatingly his body was found that same night close to Benidorm’s Sailing Club.
