Panic on plane as man makes bomb threat and yells ‘death to America’ on Glasgow-bound flight

A 41-year-old man was arrested in Glasgow after making threats against the US president, who is currently visiting Scotland.

A man has been taken into custody after forcing a plane bound for Glasgow to land after he claimed to have a bomb on board.

On Sunday about 8am local time, Abhay Nayak 41, began shouting “Allahu Akbar!” and making threats against US President Donald Trump, who is currently in Scotland at his Turnberry golf course.

“I’m going to bomb the plane! Death to America! Death to Trump!” the man yelled before he was quickly tackled to the ground by fellow passengers.

The plane had left London’s Luton Airport an hour earlier, and the flight was minutes from arriving in Glasgow when the man emerged from the toilets and began making threats.

Scotland’s authorities said the man ‘appeared to act alone’ and there was no threat to the public.

EasyJet confirmed that a suspect had been arrested by police after the emergency landing.

“Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard,” the company said in a statement.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”

Nayak entered no plea at Paisley Sheriff Court over charges of assault and endangering the safety of an aircraft.

No explosives were recovered from the plan.

No terrorism charges have been laid.

Nayak remains in custody and is due in court again next Wednesday.
