The news was shared by popular food influencer @nectoriouspapi who posted a photo of the Wendy’s logo above a Guzman Y Gomez logo to social media platform TikTok.

It is thought the store will open around the end of the year.

Wendy’s drew huge crowds on the Gold Coast earlier this year when it launched its first Australian location in Surfers Paradise.

The restaurant was the first of 200 expected to open Down Under by 2034.

Wendy’s, recognisable for its logo featuring a red-headed girl with pigtails, was popularised internationally by mentions in movies and television shows over decades.

It is most famous for its square-shaped hamburgers, Frosty’s, chicken burgers and loaded fries.

The first Wendy’s restaurant opened in Ohio in 1969, and the company now has 7000 restaurants worldwide.

Its entrance into the Australian market was driven by major franchisee Flynn Group, which acquired the master franchisee license for Australia and New Zealand in 2024. Flynn also acquired more than 260 Pizza Hut restaurants in Australia in 2023.
