A puzzling message about “paying bills” has been spray painted on a car which crashed into the front of a Melbourne home in the early hours of Monday morning.

Mill Park is a small suburb of Melbourne, about 18km north-east of the city’s CBD.

Emergency services were called to the address on Moorehead Drive, about 4.40am, amid reports of the crash.

Three people were in the home at the time, with no reported injuries.

The driver of the vehicle fled on foot.

On Monday, Sunrise newsreader Edwina Bartholomew reported the incident.

“Police in Melbourne are investigating after a car was driven into a home in Mill Park,” Bartholomew said.

“Now, a message has been left on the side of the vehicle, which read ‘pay your bills’.

“The driver, who crashed into the home, remains on the run this morning. It is not yet known if the car was stolen or who the message was intended for.”

Police are investigating the incident.
