A man has been found with gunshot wounds on a road in Melbourne’s west, with the quiet suburban street transformed into a major crime scene.
Residents near the intersection of Raleigh Rd and Leicester Cres, Melton rushed out of their homes just before 9am on Sunday after hearing screams for help.

They found a man in his 30s lying on the road in a pool of blood with a bullet wound to his leg.
Moments earlier the victim’s car, believed to be stolen, crashed at the intersection.
The man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he remains in a stable condition.


Residents told 7NEWS they heard a gunshot coming from the direction of Wolfe Rd and saw the victim drive down Raleigh Rd before the Volkswagen came to a halt at the intersection with Leicester Cres.
“So I was in my bed, and all of a sudden I hear a loud bang around 9am,” one neighbour said.
“It’s pretty scary that this was all happening in Melton, we’re all locals here and it’s pretty scary that they’re in the same area as us.”


The car was seized by police as well as some bloody clothes and a sawn-off shotgun found on a footpath.
It’s unclear at this stage who the gun belongs to or where exactly the shooting took place.
On Sunday afternoon a man was arrested by police nearby.
He is assisting detectives with their investigation into the incident.
