Two young men seriously injured in collision with speeding car in Campbellfield, Melbourne

The driver of the speeding car was fleeing police when the crashed occurred at a busy intersection.

Two young men have been seriously injured in a collision with a speeding car in Melbourne‘s north.

Highway Patrol officers initially noticed a white Audi speeding at up to 199km/h near the vicinity of Barry Rd in Campbellfield at about 11.10pm on Monday.

The driver sped off when the occupants noticed police, and collided with a silver Subaru at the corner of Barry and Sydney Rds.

The driver dumped the Audi following the crash and fled on foot, leaving behind two injured men inside the Subaru.

The 21-year-old and 19-year-old occupants of the Subaru were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police searched the area for the Audi driver but were unsuccessful.

“Investigators are working to establish if the Audi was a stolen vehicle,” Victoria Police said.
