A young boy has died after a two-vehicle crash in the Hunter region.
Emergency services were called to the New England Highway, Murulla, about 20min from Scone, following reports a Holden Barina and a Nissan Elgrand had collided at about 7:45am on Wednesday, police said.
The 85-year-old driver of the Barina sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

In NSW, mandatory drug and alcohol testing is required for all drivers involved in fatal traffic crashes.
An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with critical injuries, however he later died.
The five occupants of the Elgrand were treated at the scene before being taken hospital.
The two women aged 38 and 60, a 13-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
