A 31-year-old man from Birkdale and a 32-year-old man from Griffin, were charged in January and remain in custody facing charges including murder, grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, and two counts each of torture and kidnapping.

Following a months-long investigation, police on Monday charged a 26-year-old Cleveland man with murder and 17 other serious offences, including armed robbery, kidnapping, torture and deprivation of liberty.

Inspector Daniel Cunningham said that today’s arrest follows detailed forensic work, intelligence gathering, and cooperation among specialist units.

“This investigation has been long-running and complex, involving multiple scenes, offenders and serious allegations,” Cunningham said.

“We will allege this group was known to each other, and their actions resulted in the tragic death of a man who sustained catastrophic injuries.”

Cunningham said he was incredibly grateful to the public for their support throughout the investigation.

“This murder charge shows our commitment to holding those responsible accountable and providing some justice to the family,” he said.

The man is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
