Community members who performed CPR on a teen who crashed into a tree have been unable to save his life.

The 19-year-old man’s car veered off Left Bank Rd at Mullumbimby, about 20 minutes northwest of Byron Bay, at 7.10pm on Sunday.

He was treated by paramedics when NSW Ambulance arrived at the scene but was unable to be revived.

The young man is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
