A driver has fled the scene after slamming an SUV into a car, leaving a young woman trapped inside.
The black Hyundai SUV collided with a silver Mazda wagon on Warialda St in Kogarah, southern Sydney, about 1 am on Sunday, leaving both vehicles extensively damaged.
The Mazda’s right side was left with a large dent, and the left-side door was visibly twisted out of shape, while the SUV’s front bumper, grille, and hood were heavily crumpled.

A 20-year-old female passenger in the Mazda was trapped for a short time before being freed by firefighters.
The 17-year-old driver of the wagon escaped uninjured.


The 23-year-old male driver of the SUV fled the scene but was located a short distance away by police.
He was taken to hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
