Six people, including a young girl, have been injured in a mass shooting in a major city on the US East Coast.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Spaulding and Queensbury Avenues in Baltimore, Maryland, about 8.50pm on Saturday local time (10.50am on Sunday AEST), police confirmed in a social media post.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley said in a media briefing people were sitting outside on their porch or leaning against a car, eating, when the shooting occurred.

Six people were shot — four men, two women — including a five-year-old girl.
The child was shot in the hand and is expected to recover, Worley said.
A 38-year-old man was found in critical condition and has been rushed to a nearby hospital.
The other victims include a 23-year-old woman and three men aged 32, 33 and 52, Baltimore Police said.
Authorities closed multiple streets in the area and urged the public to avoid the scene after the incident.
Police believe the shooting was targeted.
No arrests have been made.
