An investigation is underway after two puppies were found with their mouths taped in bushland in Queensland.
The puppies, believed to be between four- and five-months-old, were discovered on Robin St, Chuwar in Ipswich, by a member of the public on Saturday.
RSPCA inspectors attended the scene and were able to rescue one of the dogs, returning the next day to save the other.

The dog that was first rescued was brought back to the area and used to encourage the other puppy to come towards the inspectors.
Pieces of black tape were also found on all four of the dogs’ paws, suggesting their legs had also been bound.
RSPCA Queensland Chief Inspector Sheree Nitkiewicz said the incident was “one of the most disturbing cases of abandonment” the organisation had seen.
“These puppies were left defenceless and in a condition that could have easily led to prolonged suffering or death if they had not been found in time.”
Nitkiewicz said the act was not just cruel but also illegal.
Anyone found guilty of animal cruelty offences can face a maximum penalty of $323,000 or three years in prison, or a maximum penalty of seven years imprisonment for severe animal cruelty.
“The actions inflicted on these puppies are utterly unacceptable, appear to have been done with clear intent, and we are determined to identify those responsible,” Nitkiewicz said.

There are a myriad of options for pet owners who have unwanted animals, Nitkiewicz said, including taking them to a shelter or reaching out to a rescue group.
“Abandonment is never the answer,” she said.
The puppies are receiving care at the RSPCA.

The RSPCA is urging anyone with any information about the incident to come forward.
