Police hunt alleged offenders after car rammed into cafe, set on fire at Altona North, Melbourne

Victorian police said they believe the incident was part of a targeted attack.

A car has been rammed into the front of a Melbourne business before being set alight in an alleged targeted attack.

The grey 4WD Ute was driven through bollards and into the shopfront, smashing through the protective roller doors and windows of the Wolf Cafe and Eatery on Lobelia Dr in Altona North about 4am on Saturday.

Nobody was inside the business, which suffered significant damage.

The car has then been set on fire, with the unknown offenders fleeing on food, according to police.

Nobody was inside the business at the time, which police said suffered significant damage.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined, however investigators are treating it as targeted,” they said.

Google Maps images of the outside of the cafe suggest the protective roller doors and bollards were installed sometime after 2023.
