Two more suspects have been charged in the alleged abduction and torture of a 19-year-old woman.
The teenager was allegedly taken on Friday and held captive for more than 48 hours, enduring brutal assaults and having part of her head forcibly shaved while being moved across multiple locations in Cairns, Queensland, police confirmed.

Kaidii Ephraums, 34, from Townsville, was initially arrested and charged over the incident, but police have since also charged two men as the investigation unfolds.
The victim was found with Ephraums inside a vehicle on Sheridan Street in Cairns on Sunday afternoon.
“She was taken to a number of locations,” Acting Detective Inspector Cindy Searle alleges.
“There were two properties she was held at, but there were other locations she was transported either through or to.
“We won’t be specifically identifying exactly which location she was taken to, just that there were a number of locations.”
According to Searle, police also located drugs in the vehicle but said there was no indication the incident was drug-related.
Two men charged
Police confirmed a 23-year-old man was arrested the same day in Freshwater, Queensland, and charged with three counts of common assault, and one count each of threats, deprivation of liberty, and torture in regard to the alleged kidnapping of the teen.
Searle said the arrest came as part of the ongoing investigation.
“He was located at a residential address,” she said.
“It was an address police had identified as a place they needed to attend, whilst they were undertaking further investigations, and he was at that location.”
On Tuesday, police arrested a third suspect, a 22-year-old Manoora man at a Manunda address.
He was charged with three counts of common assault, two counts of breach of bail, and one count each of assaults occasioning bodily harm while armed or in company, and deprivation of liberty.
Motive remains unclear
When questioned about the motive, police said that there were aspects that remain unclear.
“The motive itself is difficult to say, but there is a difficult relationship with the 19-year-old and the 34-year-old,” Searle said.
Asked at a press conference, if a third party was the reason for the dislike, Searle said:
“Potentially could be perceptions of those things, but as to whether that actually is the case, that again at this point in time is difficult to establish.”
“There are still statements being obtained to fully verify any allegations in that respect.”
CCTV footage raises questions
CCTV footage appears to show the victim in public with her alleged abuser.
Searle said it is important to understand the impact trauma can have on a person in captivity.
“The victim had suffered significant trauma in the two days she was held, and during that period, she was taken at different places,” she said.
“Whether she felt safe enough she could escape, it is a question only she can answer.”
“And I think that was very obvious by the fact that she did not run away.”
Police say they was concern about the young woman’s condition.
“When we first received the report, we had significant worries what condition we might find the victim in,” Searle said.
“Even though the injuries were such that she was released from hospital, this will have a lifelong effect for her.”
The teenager was assessed at hospital.
Investigators say the victim and the 34-year-old woman were known to each other.
No threat to wider public
Despite the severity of the allegations, police assured the public there is no ongoing risk.
Ephraums remains in custody and is due to reappear in court on August 5.
The two men are also being held and are scheduled to face court this week.
