An Australian gym has played the role of an emergency birthing suite when a mother suddenly went into labour.
Melbourne mum Rachel Eastwood planned to head straight to hospital on July 29 but realised “by the end of the street ... we weren’t going to make it”.

“(We) started problem solving around what our options were,” Eastwood told 7NEWS.
Her quick-thinking husband Peter called their midwife to say they would be delivering their baby boy at Strong and Stable at The Basin, which was their closest and safest option.
“Being members of the gym, Pete thought ... well there’s a room that has towels, heating. That’s probably a much better option than the side of the road,” Eastwood said.
The gym owner offered them a room with a bed, and midwife Sharon Williams instructed everyone on what to do.
Williams said her instincts kicked in.
“You just want (mum) to be safe, her baby to be safe,” she said.
“It was great. We had privacy, we had a room that was warm, lots of towels. So it all worked really well.”

Little Daniel took 10 minutes to arrive, and was meeting his parents even before paramedics reached the gym.
The health baby — one of four brothers — and his parents were discharged from hospital later that night.
The family reunited with everyone who helped bring the three-week-old into the world during a catch-up this week.
