The man was attacked while confronting a group of thieves in his garage.

A man has been stabbed during a home invasion in Greater Western Sydney.

Police were called to a property on Hope St, Seven Hills, about 2.55am on Tuesday.

It’s believed the homeowner, a 56-year-old man, came downstairs to his garage and confronted four unknown men who were trying to steal his motorbike.

During the confrontation one of the offenders struck the man in the arm with what was reported to be a machete.

The group then fled the scene while the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police remained at the scene overnight, with evidence markers placed in the victim’s driveway.

The red motorbike the offenders were attempting to take was seen in the garage.

“A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident has commenced,” NSW Police said.
