A search warrant was carried out by Queensland Police at the Walkerston home — in Queensland’s Mackay region — on June 18.
Officers allegedly found semi-automatic rifles, high-capacity magazines and ammunition at the home.
A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with seven offences, including unauthorised possession of explosives (ammunition), two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of drug utensils.
He is also charged with unlawful stalking and deprivation of liberty.
The operation highlighted the commitment of local police to tackling serious domestic violence offences and removing illegal firearms from the community, Acting Inspector Scott Ingram said.
“Everyone has the right to live without fear of domestic and family violence,” he said.
He described the seized firearms as “some very serious weaponry”.
“It is always a concern when people have unlicensed weapons, that there is that risk, that something could have happened,” he said.
“Illegal firearms have no place in our community, and we will continue to target offenders and remove dangerous weapons from the streets.”
The man is due to reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court on September 8.
