The girl was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.

A young girl has been left fighting for life after being hit by a car in Queensland’s far north.

Emergency Services were called to Boundary St in Railway Estate, Townsville, after reports a person was struck by a green Ford Falcon about 9.51pm on Friday.

Paramedics treated a 15-year-old girl with significant head injuries before rushing her to Townsville University Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.

The driver of the Ford, a 21-year-old Thuringowa man, was not physically injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Police said the forensic crash unit is continuing their investigations.
