RSPCA South Australia has revealed it has charged two former directors of an animal rescue charity with animal cruelty charges.
Carole Morris and Shane Jones are accused of 44 offences following an RSPCA inspection at their property in Morgan, in the state’s Riverland area, in October 2024.
They have been charged with 41 counts of ill-treatment of an animal and three counts of failure to comply with an animal welfare order.

The charges relate to one goat, one camel, two dogs, nine cats, 24 horses and poultry.
The matter was listed for first mention in Berri Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
RSPCA claims a pig was among the animals attended to by its inspectors — which was unable to use its rear legs, and was found to have been suffering from a severed spinal cord.
The pig was humanely euthanised.
Inspectors also allegedly found a dog with such severe dental disease that its jaw was damaged to the extent it was unable to eat, and a horse with a chronic maggot-infested wound, the RSPCA said.
RSPCA said members of the public who witness alleged animal cruelty or neglect are urged to file an online report or call 1300 477 722.
