Queensland Police have released footage of the moment a man accused of causing the drowning death of a baby boy was arrested in Bundamba.

The seven-month-old boy was found unresponsive on Saturday in a lake at a campsite in Gympie, about an hour’s drive northwest of the Sunshine Coast.

The toddler was pulled from the water by his mother at around 10.30am and bystanders performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The baby was rushed to Gympie Hospital in a critical condition but died later that night.

Police allege the 42-year-old man, who is known to the child, was involved in the incident.

He was arrested on Tuesday and charged with manslaughter related to domestic violence.

The family had stopped at the campsite overnight while returning home to North Queensland, police said.

Investigations are ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The man is due to face Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
