A woman believed to be aged in her 70s has died after being struck by a car.

Emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway at Bullabarra, in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, shortly after 7pm on Wednesday.

The woman died at the scene while the male driver was taken to Katoomba Hospital for mandatory testing.

A report will be prepared for the coroner and police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact Katoomba Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
