A dramatic police pursuit has unfolded after the driver of an allegedly stolen ute rammed through property gates, struck a police vehicle and led officers on a dangerous chase through suburban streets partially on its rims.
Police said the chaos began about 5.20pm on Monday in Ipswich, Queensland, when officers from the Property Crime Team attended a home on Hansells Pde in Riverview as part of investigations into a stolen silver Great Wall ute.

The vehicle was spotted parked behind closed gates.
As officers approached, the driver allegedly accelerated through the gates and smashed into a police car parked outside.
The police vehicle was significantly damaged, but no one was inside at the time.
The driver then fled the scene in the badly damaged ute.
He was seen driving through the streets and a nearby shopping centre parking lot.
Officers deployed tyre spikes, which slowed the vehicle but did not stop it.
The man allegedly continued to drive erratically, creating sparks by driving on bare rims.
He looped back to the same street where the incident began before abandoning the ute and fleeing the scene on foot.
“It sounded like a low-flying plane, with a tinny noise,” a witness told 7NEWS.
“It was obviously the car coming down the street on its rims.”
“I saw a car going down there, followed 20 seconds later by probably 10 police cars chasing it,” another local said.
Police said the 20-year-old Hillcrest man was arrested shortly after fleeing.

One officer suffered a hand injury during the arrest.
The officer was taken to St Andrew’s Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
Investigators said the ute was allegedly stolen from a Fig Tree Pocket address on July 24.
The man has been charged with several offences, including dangerous driving under the influence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, damage to an emergency vehicle, endangering police officers while driving, and obstruction of justice.
He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
A police spokesperson said the incident could have ended far worse.
“This was a reckless and dangerous situation and we are fortunate no members of the public or officers were seriously hurt.”
