The truck driver was not injured.
A stretch of Portland-Nelson Rd between Spring Rd and Stanleys Rd remains closed in both directions on Thursday night following the serious collision.
Drivers have been told to consider detouring via Kentbruck Rd, Inkpot Rd, Heaths Rd and Blacks Rd, “although this route may not be suitable for all vehicles”.
Authorities are working now to piece together exactly what triggered the state’s latest road death.
So far in 2025, 176 people have been killed on state roads, a 9 per cent increase on the same time last year.
