A 41-year-old driver has been charged after police uncovered a cache of weapons, drugs, and suspected stolen property during a dramatic early-morning intercept
Officers pulled over a Holden Commodore on Hartley St about 4am in Cairns’ CBD, Queensland, on Tuesday.

He was given a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result.
During a search of the car, police allegedly uncovered 16 bladed weapons including an axe, cannabis, jewellery believed to be stolen, and a cigarette lighter shaped like a firearm.
Body-worn camera vision shows officers pulling multiple large knives from the vehicle.



The Holloways Beach man was arrested at the scene and charged with multiple offences, including possessing dangerous drugs, carrying a knife in public, unlicensed driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property
He was refused bail and is due to face Cairns Magistrates Court this week.
