A dog walker has been urged to own up to a disgusting act on a private suburban driveway or be unmasked online.

A disgruntled resident has posted signs hoping to get the attention of the culprit who left an unwanted surprise in her driveway in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs last week.

The signs posted on Glynburn Rd in Kensington Gardens read: “To the lady who defecated on our driveway at approximately 7.15am this morning (April 26) while walking your dog, you were recorded on our security cameras defecating on our private driveway.

“We have clear video footage of the incident. You have 48 hours to return and properly clean up the mess. If not, we will have no choice but to circulate photos from the footage to identify you. Please do the right thing.”

Other locals were shocked, saying it was bad enough for a dog to do its business on someone’s lawn or nature strip without it being cleaned up — never mind a human leaving their own mess.

“I’d be pretty pissed off to be honest with you,” one person said.

“It’s gonna rather embarrassing for whoever gets caught.”

It is not the first time a person has been caught doing their business in a public place.

In 2019, CCTV of a woman in activewear going to the toilet on side of a road in Paddington, Sydney, went viral online.

In this latest incident, the signposted deadline has long passed and whatever happened between the culprit and the resident is unclear.

It is an offence to urinate or defecate in a public place and those found doing so face a fine of $250.

Trespassing carries a higher penalty, with the penalty a $2500 fine or six months in jail if convicted.
