They say every dog has his day and that is certainly ringing true for Alfredo the maremma sheepdog, who has been found and reunited with his family less than 48 hours after allegedly being dog-napped from his Adelaide home.
South Australian Police allege three-year-old Alfredo was stolen from his backyard on Ashbrook Ave in Payneham — in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs — just after midnight on Tuesday.
Officers put out a public alert, trying to sniff out any clue to locate the canine.

They also released CCTV of a woman and vehicle seen in the area at the time. SA Police said they wanted to speak with the woman, who might be able to assist in locating Alfredo.
Just before 8am on Thursday, police were called to an address in Trinity Gardens — just over 2km from Payneham — where Alfredo was found.
He was soon reunited with his family.
A 53-year-old woman who was at the property has been charged with possessing a stolen dog and is expected to appear in court at a later date, police said.
Police have thanked the public for their help in ensuring a happy ending for the hound.
