A bus driver has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting children living with disabilities following a three-day hearing.

Joseph Saba, 52, was charged in September last year with six counts of intentionally sexually touching a child aged between 10 and 16.

Police had alleged Saba molested two girls — aged 13 and 14 — between January 30 and June 6, 2024 while driving them to a western Sydney school.

Saba’s hearing began at Parramatta Local Court on Monday, 11 months after he pleaded not guilty to all six charges.

The proceedings were initially meant to run for four days, but the length of the hearing was reduced after three of the charges were withdrawn on the first day.

The remaining three charges relating to the second girl were heard in court on Tuesday and Wednesday before Magistrate Danielle Mansour.

After examining the evidence tendered to court, Mansour found Saba not guilty on all three counts.

Police had launched an investigation into the allegations after receiving a report in August last year.

Saba has always emphatically maintained his innocence.
