Police made the discovery just after 11pm on Sunday after a relative called asking for a welfare check.
Husseini was known to police in relation to a domestic violence incident earlier this year involving the woman.
The couple has several children.
They are originally from Afghanistan but had been living in Bordertown for some time.
Mirza had arrived first, and his wife joined him later, though she didn’t speak much English.
She had moved from Adelaide to join him after their child started university.
Before she arrived, five people were living at the property — the man, his sister-in-law, her son, and another young couple.
No one else was inside the home at the time of the alleged incident.
“It’s a tragic circumstance for the family and the community and all the emergency responders who were attending,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Cath Hilliard said.
“Domestic abuse is no longer acceptable by the community or the police.”
A postmortem for Shafeeqa is scheduled for Tuesday and will determine her official cause of death.
