A concern for welfare check has led police to make a grim discovery in Queensland on Thursday.

The body of a 56-year-old man was found in the front yard of a Dolphin Heads property, in the northern suburbs of Mackay, where emergency services arrived about 3.12pm.

The man was found unresponsive in the yard on Ian Wood Dr, and declared dead at the scene.

An investigation into the man’s sudden death is ongoing, but no more information about the incident is available, Queensland Police said.
